It is Banned Books Week in the United States, shining a spotlight on the number of titles targeted for censorship in public libraries and schools. In 2024 at least 2,452 books were challenged according to the American Library Association. Most of the demands to censor books—a whopping 72 percent—came from pressure groups and government entities, while only 16 percent came from parents and 12 percent from all other sources.
